CLEANING AND MAINTANANCE OF A FLOKATI RUG

The cleaning of Flokati Rugs is a simple task. Because of the way they are made the easiest and most effective way to wash them is in a washing machine. A Flokati, regardless of size should first be shaken well to rid it of any loose dirt or particles. Then it can be placed in either a home machine for a small rug or an industrial machine for a larger rug. The machine should be set on the gentle cycle, using cold water and soap for wool (woolite) and then rinsed thoroughly. Immediately after the rug spin dries, remove from washing machine, shake well and place the rug over a line so it dries naturally. DO NOT! bleach, use hot water, put in dryer or dry clean. DO NOT vacuum with a beater brush vacuum as this will pull wool out and mess your rug up.

As in any fine wool rug, you will see shedding for a while and then it will stop. This is quite normal and will not result in a noticeably thinned out rug.
It can lose lots of wool fibers like this and still not show it.
